The name
It starts with a Toko
Our name comes from Toko. Across Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, “Toko” means a shop, a store.
Its older root is the Hokkien word 「土库」 — a warehouse, a place to keep your goods and grow your resources. No fancy fit-out, no dazzling signboard, yet the place where countless dreams began.
Humble, but the birthplace of countless businesses and brands. Today we want to carry that spirit forward — so every seller can have a first “Toko” of their own.
Why we built Tokoo
The hard part was never the dream.
Every successful business once had an unremarkable start. Maybe a corner of the house, maybe a side hustle after work, maybe just one product photo posted on WhatsApp.
Plenty of people dream of starting a business. But the hard part was never the dream — it's taking the first step.
No money to build a website, no design team, no technical background, not even sure where to begin. We know that feeling — so we made Tokoo.
We give you a free online store, so anyone can have a first shop of their own. It doesn't need to be big or perfect, and you don't need to wait until everything is ready. The moment you begin, you're already on the way.
