Checkout on Tokoo: WhatsApp Orders, Payment Options and Coupons Explained
How checkout actually works on a Tokoo store: the free WhatsApp order flow, manual payment methods, the optional online gateway, and coupons — plus delivery vs pickup.

Checkout is where a browsing shopper either becomes a paying customer or abandons the cart — and it's the part of an e-commerce platform that has to work exactly right. Here's exactly how it's built on Tokoo.
WhatsApp ordering: the free, permanent core
Tapping checkout in WhatsApp mode generates a prefilled message summarising the cart and opens straight into a chat with the merchant's WhatsApp number. The order is logged in the admin as "pending" the moment it's placed, ready for the merchant to confirm. This mode is free forever, on every plan — it's treated as core, not a growth feature to gate.
Manual payment methods
A merchant can independently switch on bank transfer, Touch 'n Go eWallet, and DuitNow QR — each toggled separately in settings, so a store can offer exactly the mix its customers actually use, with no gateway account required.
The online payment gateway
From the Starter plan, a store can connect ToyyibPay to accept FPX and card payments with automatic confirmation — no manual bank-transfer screenshots to reconcile. It runs alongside manual methods rather than replacing them, so a shopper still sees whichever options the merchant has enabled.
| Manual methods | Online gateway | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan required | Every plan, free | Every plan, free | Starter and up |
| Confirmation | Merchant confirms manually | Merchant confirms manually | Automatic |
| Setup needed | Just a WhatsApp number | None — toggle on in settings | Connect a ToyyibPay account |
Coupons, on every plan
Coupons support percentage or fixed-amount discounts, a minimum spend threshold, a total redemption cap, and a per-customer usage limit — applied storewide at checkout, and available on every plan including Free.
Delivery vs pickup, and guest checkout
Merchants can independently enable ship-to-address and self-pickup, with an optional map and opening hours shown for pickup. Checkout defaults to allowing guests through without an account, and a merchant can opt into requiring login if they specifically want every order tied to a customer profile.

Is WhatsApp checkout free on Tokoo?+
Yes, permanently and on every plan. It's treated as core to how Malaysian sellers actually take orders, not a feature that gets gated behind a paid tier.

Manual methods — bank transfer, Touch 'n Go eWallet and DuitNow QR — are available on every plan. An online gateway (ToyyibPay, for FPX and card payments with automatic confirmation) is available from the Starter plan.
Do coupons cost extra on Tokoo?+
No. Coupons — percentage or fixed discounts, minimum spend, usage caps — are included on every plan, including Free.
Can customers check out without creating an account?+
Yes, by default. A merchant can turn on a setting to require login at checkout if they specifically want every order tied to a registered customer, but guest checkout stays available otherwise.
