Multi-Location Inventory on Tokoo: How Stock Tracking and Split Orders Actually Work

Most small online stores start with one shelf and one spreadsheet. The moment a seller has a second warehouse, a second retail counter, or a consignment shelf at a friend's shop, tracking stock in one number stops working — and overselling starts. Tokoo builds multi-location inventory into the product model itself, not as a bolt-on.

A product can have up to three variant attribute types — size and colour, for example — and every resulting combination (a SKU) carries its own price, photo, and a stock count at each location you've set up. There's no cap on the number of locations: a home-based seller with a garage and a rented mini-warehouse tracks both the same way a bigger operation tracks five outlets.

When an order comes in, Tokoo deducts stock by location priority — the order you've ranked your locations in — automatically, server-side, at the moment the order is placed. This isn't a display-only count: it's the same number that blocks overselling, re-validated at purchase time rather than trusted from what was shown minutes earlier in someone's cart.

In the example above, the main warehouse only had 8 of the 12 units ordered. Tokoo automatically pulls the remaining 4 from the next-priority location — inside a single database transaction, so the order either deducts correctly across both locations or not at all. No half-fulfilled orders, no silent oversell if two customers check out at the same second.

Once a variant's stock crosses a low threshold, a badge appears on the product list and on the storefront product page ("Only 3 left") — visible to the merchant for restocking and to the shopper as a mild nudge to buy now.
