Set up your store with the guided wizard

Open a brand-new store and the setup wizard is where you land. It is one continuous run through the nine things a store actually needs — your first product, how customers pay you, how you deliver, the design, your store's identity, categories, how you look on Google, your contact details and a first promotion — and every step is a real form, so what you type is saved rather than described and left for later.

   Start with the three that let you sell

   The welcome screen lists only what it takes to take an order: your first product, how you get paid, and how you deliver. It also says About 3 minutes, which is roughly what those three cost you. Add my first product starts the run; I'll do this later leaves the wizard and puts a Continue setup card on your dashboard instead.

   Every step is a real form

   After those three the wizard keeps going: How should your store look? (choosing a design publishes your homepage straight away), Your store's identity (a logo and one line about what you sell), Categories, Search and sharing, Contact details, and Promotions — Step 7 of 9 sits at the top, so you always know how much is left. Nothing here is a description to act on later: Save and continue writes it, and Open the full page instead drops you into the matching admin screen when you would rather work there.

   Skip a step without losing it

   Skip this step moves on without pretending the step is done, and the Later link at the top leaves the wizard entirely. Nothing is thrown away: reopening it resumes at the first step you have not finished, because skipping meant “not now” rather than “never” — and the Store health page goes on listing it as something worth doing.

   

Your store is open is the end of the run, not the end of the work: it lists what is still worth doing, with Polish it now and Edit my homepage beside it. Orders already work — the first three steps were the ones that decide whether your store can take one.
